Weekend of learning for GRS in Zandvoort

EuroCup-3 returned this weekend for the fourth meeting of the championship. Zandvoort Circuit, in The Netherlands, hosted the final round before the summer break in a weekend where GRS Team did not score points, but gained valuable experience on the series.

For the first time in this new championship, GRS entered two drivers. Jesse Carrasquedo Jr., with significant Formula 4 experience, made his debut on the series. Daniel Mavlyutov was also on his first ever EuroCup-3 outing, but he came into the team with previous racing experience with GRS.

Several testing sessions were held on Friday. Our drivers and staff had a productive day, which they used to recognise the track and gather useful data to face the weekend on the best possible condition.

Free Practice sessions took place on Saturday morning. The field was hugely close and competitive, so it was difficult to find the ideal pace to shine. On Qualifying 1, Jesse was 16th and Daniel 18th.

Race 1 opened the Sunday action. Under rainy conditions, all drivers struggled to stay on track. Both Jesse and Daniel gave it all to make up spots. The Turkish finished in 12th position, while the Mexican had to settle for 16th after going into the gravel at the late stages of the race.

Carrasquedo and Mavlyutov qualified on P13 and P15 for the second race, respectively. During the race, both drivers fought in the group battling for the final points. A red flag brought the race to an early end and Jesse finished in P12 with Daniel in P14.

It was not an easy weekend for the team. However, both drivers shown visible progression throughout their debut weekend on the series, so we face the final stretch of the season fully confident.

Now, it is time for our deserved summer break. The season will be resumed in September 23-24 in Jerez, where we will contest in both EuroCup-3 and Formula 4 Spanish Championship.
