GRS Team to make Rally-Raid racing debut in 2024 Spanish Championship

The team faces a unique challenge on its history as it joins a completely different discipline than the series where it raced so far. The team will take part in the championship, which starts this weekend, with two Can-Am, one in T3 class and one in T4.

Recently, the team purchased to Can-Am Maverick to race in the championship. One of them is part of the T3 category, while the other will race in T4. The team already had the chance to test the new cars, and the initial feeling was positive.

Rising star Pau Navarro will be at the wheel of the GRS Team entry in T3. At 19 years of age, Navarro, who comes from Girona, Spain, has earned wide experience in different Rally-Raid events and championships. He made his Rally Dakar debut being 16 years old as the co-driver of a truck. He then became the youngest participant on the legendary rally history. As a driver, he is the reigning Bajas European champion in T4. In 2023, he finished Rally Dakar in 9th place of the SSV class. Navarro has also achieved multiple CERTT wins. Fausto Mota will be his co-driver.

The CERTT calendar consists of six rounds across Spain. The season kicks off this weekend with VI Rally TT Jaén Mar de Olivos. The Special Stages will be held on Saturday, while the fourth and final one will take plane on Sunday. A total of 345,97 kilometres of timed Special Stages will be held.

“Very happy of being part of GRS on the start of their Rally-Raid and CERTT journey. I know the team has many experience and reputation in single seater racing, and when I had the chance to see how their work, I was very satisfied with their methods. Now, we will try and enjoy these races, and to learn, which is always the most important. I’m looking forward too to finally drive the new car, which we were preparing over the last two years. We will try to be calm into this challenge, but we also have the goal to be at the top and to be able to compete for the highest positions. Thanks to Josep, to the entire team, and to Fausto Mota, my new co-driver for the new season”

Pau Navarro, driver #10.

“We are delighted to kick off a unique project and challenge in GRS Team history. Our passion for motorsport was never limited to single seater racing, and that’s why we face this expansion into CERTT fully determined and motivated. The main goal is to learn in a new discipline, but I’m confident that we’ll be able to be competitive from the beginning in Jaén. I am also pleased to welcome Pau into the team. He is one of the most promising rising talents, and he will undoubtedly help us reach our goals”.
