Formula 4 Spanish 2022 season comes to an end

GRS Team wraps up another season in Formula 4 Spanish Championship. The final meeting took place this weekend at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit. Despite the hard work done and the progressive improvement in both qualifying and race pace, the team did not score points.

Once again, the team entered four drivers, the same as the previous round at Navarra Circuit: Marcos Flack, Ricardo Gracia, Vladislav Ryabov and Daniel Mavlyutov.

The pace shown in collective testing and free practice sessions followed a similar pattern than the one seen during the rest of the season: potential to be fighting on the midfield. However, a difficult qualifying session placed our drivers at the back for Races 1 and 2.

As usual, the situation improved on the race. Our drivers gained positions and performed solidly. Ricardo climed up to the Top 20 and finished in 18th place. Marcos came back to 22nd after pitting to replace his front wing and having a battle to the chequered flag with Vladislav. Daniel finished in 27th after a mechanical issue in the morning limited his mileage.

An improvement was found on Sunday qualifying. Flack got a great result, qualifying 15th for the final race. Prior to that, Race 2 took place, and Ryabov took the best result for the team by crossing the finish line in P20.

Our drivers’ comebacks were the highlight of Race 3 as well. Mostly by Ricardo and Daniel, who climbed up their way to significantly improve their starting positions. The highest placed driver was, however, Marcos in 16th position. Unfortunately, Vladislav had to retire after an incident with another driver.

An extremely tough season is now over. The results were not satisfactory nor what the team expected. Despite that, we feel proud of the efforts made by every single member of the team: drivers, engineers, mechanics, etc. the experienced gained this year will undoubtedly help us to be stronger and better prepared in future challenges.

From GRS Team we also thank all the fans who, through their votes, helped us win the Best Livery Award in Formula 4 Spanish ‘Fan Awards’. Huge thanks as well to all the people at the track this weekend, who got the chance to meet our team and drivers during the Pit Walk.

Now it is time to rest and to start preparing the upcoming season. We face a new year the same motivation, determination, and ambition as always. 2023 will be a year with some significant changes, which will be announced in due course, throughout the following months.
