GRS Team completed in Motorland Aragón an impeccable weekend, where the team and its driver, Vladislav Ryabov, managed to score their first podium of the season. The Russian driver had a sensational weekend throughout the weekend and scored points in all three races.
Round 4 of Formula 4 Spanish Championship took place last weekend in Motorland Aragón. Vladislav Ryabov had just had his best weekend on the championship in Portimao, the previous round. The Russian driver, however, improved these results at Motorland.
On Friday, Ryabov was fastest in a productive collective test day. The event officially began the following day, on Saturday. It all started with free practice sessions, in which Ryabov significantly improved from the first session to the second one.
Qualifying 1 came and Ryabov had his best performance of the season so far. The GRS Team driver completed two phenomenal laps that gave him second place on the grid for Races 1 and 2. The Russian driver was only 26 thousandths of a second away from claiming his first Pole Position on the series.
A few minutes before the start of Race 1, a thunderstorm hit the track. The heavy rain and poor visibility conditions led to the cancellation of the race. Shortly after, it was decided that all three races would be hold on Sunday, with Qualifying 2 being cancelled.
Sunday came and Ryabov kept his strong form he shown on qualifying. In Race 1, the #26 driver dropped to third, but quickly regained second place. After containing the attacks of the driver who was threatening his position, Vladislav kept the pace until seeing the chequered flag in P2. GRS Team’s colours shone on a podium for the first time this season in what also was the best result for the team since 2019.
Race 2 was crucial as the fastest lap order would determine the grid for Race 3. Ryabov fought for the podium with several drivers until the end of the race. Despite not taking the top 3 spots, he crossed the finish line in a solid fourth place. Unfortunately, his fastest lap was only enough to claim 12th on the grid for Race 3.
On that final race, Ryabov was very solid and competitive despite having put old tyres. The driver gained places little by little, improving lap by lap, and managed to finish the race in eighth place.
It was a great weekend for Ryabov and for the entire team. The hard work that is being done since the beginning of the year keeps being rewarded. The team and the driver improve every weekend and they are now completely showing their potential. GRS thanks all its team members for their magnificent job.
“This was a splendid weekend. We scored points in every race, which is really nice. We proved that hard work always pays off. In Race 1 we scored a podium, which is a big achievement for me. It was really pleasant to score a podium in this competitive championship. On the second race we struggled a bit: I did some small mistakes but was P4 anyway. On the last race I had old tyres and thought that it would not be a good race, but I did a splendid race. I did some overtakes and finished eighth”.
