Round 2 of Formula 4 Spanish Championship took place this weekend at MotorLand Aragón circuit. GRS Team had a weekend to forget, with no chance to score points.
The team had a sole driver on the gird for this meeting. Carl Bennett defended GRS’ colours after a good start to the season in Spa-Francorchamps. A collective test session took place on Friday under rainy conditions. Bennett did more than 40 laps, but the obtained ended up being irrelevant as the rest of the weekend took place on dry conditions.
Free Practice sessions and Qualifying 1 were held on Saturday morning. Carl had a tough session, where he secured 26th on the grid for Race 1 and P24 for Race 2. Later into the day, in Race 1, the Thai American driver gained several positions on track and finished the race in 20th place.
Qualifying 2, held on Sunday morning, allowed Bennett to qualify 21st on the grid for Race 3. Race 2, the shortest one, took place afterwards. Once again, our driver was great in terms of racecraft. Bennett gained up numerous spots and ended the race in P17.
On the final race, Bennett was involved in an incident during the early stages. The #11 driver dropped to the final positions. From that point, our driver started gaining places and he reached P21 as his final result.
We wrap up the weekend with no points, learning and improving lap by lap and supporting our driver on his growth during his first full year in Formula 4 Spanish Championship. We are ready to keep giving our best and find better pace as the season progresses. Thanks to all team members for their efforts.
Formula 4 Spanish Championship will return in four weeks. Navarra Circuit will host the third meeting of the season in June 24-25.
