Weekend to forget in Aragon

Formula 4 Spanish Championship season started its latter stages with Round 5 at Motorland Aragon. Our visit to Alcañiz turned out to be the most difficult weekend for the team in the entire season. Few points, tough luck and work to do ahead of us after a weekend that, however, was not entirely negative.

Issues were there since the beginning. None of our four cars qualified in the Top 10 after Q1. We were ready to gain positions on Race and so did we. All drivers finished ahead of their starting position. Lorenzo Fluxá brought home points by finishing sixth while the other drivers missed out on the Top 10 by a small margin.

Our Sunday began with Qualifying 2, a session in which we managed to improve and obtained decent starting spots for the last race. Before that we had to face Race 2, the shortest one. It was one to forget. We did not score a point while Álex García and Eloy López made contact and the latter had to retire from the race.

The round finished with Race 3. Fluxá did not complete a single lap after being involved in a crash with another driver. Both were thankfully uninjured. It was Suleiman Zanfari who scored points in a race that came to a premature end because of a red flag. The Moroccan driver finished in eighth position but was promoted to seventh after one of our rivals was given a post-race penalty.

In conclusion, we leave Aragon aware of the work we have to do to turn the situation back and face the remaining rounds in a positive way. The championship is coming to an end and we are fully motivated and determined to perform well in the last two meetings. We keep learning and working to improve and be able to reach our objectives.

The season does not stop and we will be racing in Jarama Circuit next weekend, on September 7 and 8. This will be the sixth and penultimate round of the year.
